As the school year drew to a close, our students put on a spectacular end-of-year Music Gala in the School Hall on 10 July 2024, showcasing their diverse talents in music and dance.
The captivating performance began with the enchanting Disney medley played by the String Ensemble, setting the tone for the evening. Our musically gifted students then dazzled the audience with a range of impressive pieces - from a beautiful Oboe and Flute Duet playing classical works to the Bass Ensemble's rendition of the film soundtrack “Your Name.”
Our school’s music and dance teams also impress their schoolmates with the results of their hard work. The Handbell Team filled the hall with crystalline chimes in perfect harmony, while the vibrant Chinese Dance Team captivated the crowd with their intricate footwork and graceful swirls in delicate costumes.
A highlight of the show was a video created by the Media Team, following three students as they learned the art of sand painting from their peers. The audience watched, captivated, as the girls in the video learned the basic techniques of sand painting taught by our schoolmates – the delicate manipulation of the grains, the layering of sand, and the creation of intricate designs. The camera captured the concentration and joy on their faces as they tried their hand at the art. At one point, the video took an unexpected turn, as the three girls showed their creation of a beautiful, detailed portrait of them using the sand. This truly wraps up the school’s motto, United in Love, symbolising the supportive friendship and community within the school.
The event reached a spellbinding climax with the performances of our school’s Junior Choir, Senior Choir, and Orchestra. The Choirs’ heart-wrenching melodies, intricate harmonies, and seamless interplay of the different ensembles created a spellbinding experience for our students. The Senior Choir's rendition of “A Bright New Sunny Day” was particularly moving, as it transformed from a somber, wartime lament to a message of hope and resilience. The finale, a joint performance of “When You Believe,” left the audience uplifted and inspired, reminding all schoolmates again of the power of prayers and love.
Through their outstanding displays of talent and teamwork, our schoolmates showcased the vibrant spirit and supportive community that make our school truly special.
