Values Education Day

Throwing back to the Value Education Day held on 7 October 2022, it was truly and undoubtedly an unforgettable experience for all Holy Familians.  Being awe-inspiring and thought-provoking, the program aimed at delivering the importance of positive attitudes in life, especially in coping difficulties.  The program included two parts, namely the Value Education Talk and the Expressive Art Session.

Followed by the Expressive Art Session, the program kicked off with the Value Education Talk. Teaching us how to envisage the source of stress, the experienced speaker also shared ways for us to ameliorate the plight of stress, such as journaling, exercising, or having deep talks with trustworthy friends and family members.  Another highlight of the talk is the importance of gratitude.  Gratitude is a powerful catalyst for happiness.  Speakers reminded us to never take things for granted.  Every small and big thing in life is worth being grateful for, like a breakfast prepared in the morning, a learning opportunity, or even good weather.  Only with gratitude can we feel more positive emotions, relish good experiences, improve our health, deal with adversity, and build strong relationships.  This talk definitely gave a lightbulb moment for all and sundry in the school.

Moving on to the Expressive Art Session, the mentors designed an intriguing activity for us to understand more about ourselves.  Under the guidance and supervision of handicraft mentors, we used clay to make something that we like the most, according to instructions.  Aside from fostering our creativity, it also provided a golden chance for us to have a better understanding of ourselves, and what we actually like the most. Cultivating self-awareness is always of paramount importance.  With self-awareness, we are able to identify changes we want to make and recognize our strengths so we can build on them. Another precious moment of the day is when we hung up our work in the hall.  Looking at the marvelous work created by other schoolmates, we have learned to show appreciation to all those around us!

By way of conclusion, Value Education Day not only gave us an exquisite opportunity to unwind from the hectic school schedule but also nurtured us with positive values.  With many more meaningful activities to come, I believe Holy Familians will continue to have a fruitful school life and will continue to shine in a splendid and fabulous way.  May God continue to bless our school!
