To align with our school theme “Stay Active Stay Healthy” this year, we prioritized our well-being and participated in Wellness Programs organized by social workers, guidance teachers and student helpers on 30 September 2024. With kaleidoscopic workshops and activities, the school was transformed into a sanctuary for staff and students to slow down and take a break from the hectic school life. Let’s stroll down the memory lane and reminisce about the prevailing joy and calmness on that day.
As a student helper stationed at the teahouse booth, I gained invaluable opportunities to interact with schoolmates and teachers while making tea for them. The sense of serenity derived from enjoying a cup of tea allowed students to unwind and escape from academic pressure. Besides, through casual chatting and sharing tea, a sense of belonging and connection was fostered among Holy Familians. Without a shadow of doubt, the teahouse booth effectively encouraged students to embrace tranquillity and enrich their social lives, promoting a healthy work-life balance and stronger support system.
Besides, one of the highlights of the event was Rabbit Therapy by Tolobunny. Thanks to the therapy bunny’s gentle nature and soft fur, loads of students were attracted to visit it. Through interacting with the bunny, both schoolmates and teachers had their stress temporarily reduced and could detach from their hectic lives for a short while. Rabbit Therapy was truly a therapeutic and cathartic experience for all of us.
In addition, Wellness Day consisted of artistic elements such as the DIY Workshop led by the Chair-lady of the Art Club, a Movie-watching session in the Lecture Theatre and a Photo Booth. By indulging themselves in creative alcohol ink art, not only could students establish a sense of uniqueness and enable personal discovery, but they could also learn to express their emotions through an artistic way. The active participation and cordial dialogues of participants significantly contributed to a light-hearted atmosphere which permeated through the art room, and added a deeper layer of meaning to the overall experience. Moreover, the photo booth set up on the day not only allowed students and teachers to create precious memories, but it also facilitated exploration of personality through various props and poses. Undeniably, these artistic activities enabled students to process their emotions under a calm and cozy ambience.
Last but not least, a myriad of sports events was incorporated into our Wellness Day. For instance, the Yoga Workshop guided by our alumna, Sandy To, was an absolutely therapeutic experience for us. While stretching our muscles, we learned to focus our mind in the present moment and be aware of our breathing. This technique effectively helped us to ease tension and truly relax.
To conclude, we learned to prioritize and embrace our well-being as well as got connected with schoolmates and teachers on this special day. May we all remember the lessons learned on Wellness Day and continue to spread joy, peace, harmony and praise to those around us.
