MATHEMATICS EDUCATION

Curriculum aims

  1. To develop the ability to think critically and creatively, to conceptualize, inquire and reason mathematically, and to use mathematics to formulate and solve problems in daily life
  2. To develop the ability to communicate with others, express their views clearly and logically in mathematical language
  3. To develop the ability to manipulate numbers, symbols, and other mathematical objects
  4. To develop number sense, symbol sense, spatial sense, measurement sense and the capacity to appreciate structures and patterns
  5. To develop a positive attitude towards mathematics learning and an appreciation of the aesthetic nature and cultural aspect of mathematics

Learning activities

STEM Day

Through playing a Room Escape Game on computer, students found some hints and explored the school campus to attempt interesting Mathematics problems.

Mathematics Online Quiz

Students attempted challenging Mathematics or logic questions online during Lunar New Year and Easter holidays. Awards were given to the high-achieving students based on their performance.

 

Achievements

Hong Kong Mathematical Games Open

In 2020, one student received the Champion, one student received the Silver Award and four students received the Bronze Award.

In 2021, four students received the Bronze Award.

In 2022, two students received the Bronze Award.

 

 

Asia International Mathematical Olympiad Open Contest (Semi-final Round)

In 2020, two students received the Bronze Award.

In 2021, one student received the Silver Award and three students received the Bronze award.

In 2022, one student received the Silver Award and nine students received the Bronze Award.

In 2023, seven students received the Bronze Award.

 

 

Hua Xia Cup National Mathematical Olympiad Invitation Competition

In 2020, two students received the Third Prize.

In 2023, one student received the Second Prize.
